MIIKO SKIN CARE

Hey guys! Another Monday coming at ya! Weeee! I am kinda excited it is the last week of March and we are gearing up for APRIL! IT’S SPRING! Spring meaning warmer weather, flowers, a new FABFITFUN box LOL and lots of pretty colours.

I know this blog post doesn’t have much to do with fitness or travel- but it is about wellness, which I believe can fall into the fitness category. It is all about taking care of yourself. Plus, I found this product while I was traveling so there ya go. Ok drum roll please…

I’m sharing with you today my skin care routine that I have been using for over a month now. I found Miiko Skin in Victoria (where they are based). I was grateful enough to meet the amazing boss babe and founder Kimiko (such a cool name) where she showed me what’s up.  It was great to see the founder of this company be there to talk to me and answer my questions. By the way, I am not getting paid for this post (although that would be so awesome to rep them!) I am simply sharing the love! I shop and buy organic and local as much as I can and I really just fell in love with this company and what Kimiko is doing! I am also not about a skin routine that takes half an hour in the morning. I like quick, simple and straight to the point. This product does exactly that.

Confession: I was never one to really give a shit about my skin (eeeeek… hindsight wish I did) and I used Dove soap on my face. Honestly, it worked for my sensitive skin. Some people probably cringe when they hear about people washing their face with a bar of soap LOL… oh well. You don’t know what you don’t know. Regardless, fast forward a few months and I am totally loving this line. I love that it is local, that it is natural, and that it is doing it’s job! I feel good about using this product. If you are tired of your routine and want to switch it up, or if you don’t even have a routine, I would suggest trying Miiko. So here we go peeps!

If you are more of a visual person, I made a video for you as well.

Prep Work! Get The Konjac Sponge.

WTF is that? I didn’t know what it was either, so chill. The sponge acts as a exfoliator but it is so much more than that! It is made from a pure vegetable fibre taken from the root of the Amorphophalleus Konjac Potato plant. Apparently, the Japanese have been eating and using Konjac for centuries. It is also rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D & E), protein, lipids, fatty acids and natural minerals such as copper, zinc, iron, and magnesium. WOAH! Yeah I will put that on my face instead of a cloth! LOL! Plus they have different types  of sponges for different skins. They feel so spongy and amazing too! Double Plus; they are biodegradable. Happy dance! This sponge is what I use for my first step!

First things first! Wash your face.

The Saving Face wash is legit food for your face! You can feel good about putting this wash on your face as you can eat most of its ingredients. Have you ever thought about what we put on our skin? Everything we soak or spray or lather on, eventually skins deep into our skin and into our bloodstream. The thought of that makes me shake in my boots a bit- so if I am putting natural ingredients on my skin that my body can digest- I am WAY more comfortable with that (as apposed to chemicals I cannot pronounce). Honey, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil and Grapefruit essential oil. Woah. And YUM! As you can see from the list, this stuff is MINT.

Saving Face Toner

So we have all been told about the PH balance of our body and water these days, but did you ever think about it for your skin? I didn’t obviously. Apparently, a healthy skin has a ph level of 4.5 to 5.5. Once we scrub and exfoliate our face, we need to protect it from the outside world as the skin is super fresh! The acidity of this toner is a natural way to protect your skin just like a shield. I never used toner before and of course now I am hooked! Again, all stuff I can pronounce, and the ACV in it is just the icing on the cake. You know how much I like my Apple Cider Vinegar.

Golden Girl Face Oil

Final and favourite step! I find after I wash my face it becomes so dry as the soap has washed all the oils out of it. Especially in winter, around my mouth just gets super tight and I hate it. I would put thick cream on my face and still not be satisfied.. and also grossed out feeling oily. Go figure putting oil on my face has the opposite effect! So oil is where it is at now! Miiko says:

“Your outermost layer of skin looks like a brick and mortar wall. The bricks represent skin cell and the mortar represents sebum (oil). The Face Oil keeps your “mortar” hydrated and healthy.”

And boy does it ever! I love this part! I thought that the oil would make me break out but nope! I picked the Golden Face Oil because it supports dry skin and minimizes signs of aging. Gotta be proactive right?

Done. Simple. Easy and quick. I ain’t about that 30 minute routine. Who has time for that? Not me thanks! LOL. If you want more info, please visit Kimiko’s awesome website– also go stop by her youtube page as well. Support local whenever you can! Lets do our part and help be sustainable and keep the love going!

Have you tried Miiko Skin Co before? What is your favourite product to use on our face? Any local companies that you would love to share? Leave a comment below I would love to know!
