Happy Friday Loves! We are definitely in the middle of Fall and I could not be happier! This season really makes me so giddy! I know I have said this before, but there is just something about the air, the colours, THE PUMPKIN….hehe. This weekend, up here in Canada, is Thanksgiving (also my favourite Holiday). Why? Because there is no commercialism attached to it (well not much anyway) and there is no pressure to consume/buy gifts. It is really just like putting on a warm fuzzy sweater. Being thankful for what you have and where you are in life. No matter how shitty you think your life might be, there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Always. Thanksgiving is a time to look back at the year you had and appreciate all that happened- the good and bad. Even the bad times are good as they force you to level up, to change, or maybe not take things for granted.
Since it is my favourite season, and favourite holiday, I thought I would give you a couple ideas on how to celebrate or to give back this weekend!
So, I will admit; I have never done this before! I applaud people that go every chance they get! That is so amazing. I have wanted to give blood for quite some time now, however my schedule never allowed for it to work! I am very thankful that this weekend did! So, I have an appointment to give blood on Sunday, actual Thanksgiving day. What better day to do it on right? I am so grateful and thankful for this body and life that I am living, the least I could do is to give blood to someone in need. I will be honest though, needles freak me the fuck out, so this will be interesting to say the least. But, I am going through with it! Why not? If you feel in the giving mood this weekend, why don’t you schedule an appointment to do the same? Click here to get started.
You and I both know that we will probably be eating a shit ton of good food this weekend; however, I think one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world is when you are so full it hurts! I am going to avoid feeling like that this time around by being mindful of how fast I am eating and chewing. Slow down, and really be in the moment at dinner. Schedule yourself time to move before and after dinner! So, Sunday morning, I already have a class booked so I can start my day sweating (like I always do to keep me sane), and then schedule something for after dinner to move as well! Maybe a family walk down to the park or some family games that involve being active so you don’t feel like a slug. You will feel better, trust me. 🙂
Go Do Fall Shit
Go do a pumpkin patch and carve some pumpkins. Go apple picking! Make some crafts with your friends! Go take some fall pictures! Get outside! I am guilty as I do not take the time to do enough fall activities! Every year I want to go to a corn maze and get lost being an idiot with my friends! So, I am planning to do that! I was thinking a family friendly event, until my friends suggested we go here…. PRAY FOR ME!
Maybe it is on your way to work or to dinner…you see someone outside looking for spare change; buy them a sandwich. You see an older person needing help with groceries; help them. You are in the Starbucks drive through line up; buy the person behind you their order. You volunteer at a kitchen this weekend; whatever it is, big or small, do something not only you will be happy about, but will also brighten up someone else’s day. That is what this season is all about. Giving back makes you feel like a million bucks!
What are your plans this weekend? Have you done any of the activities listed above? How did it go? I would love to hear from you! I also wanted to take this time to really give thanks to you, the beautiful soul reading this. Thank you for stopping by, taking the time out of you day to read my blog. I appreciate you, and I am so thankful. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with whoever you choose to spend it with. xo
